The 2007
Conference will focus on the MOT in the service sector of the
economy. From e-commerce to e-government to e-learning, the
service industry is being shaped differently. Over the last few
years technological advances in certain fields like
communication, information technology, automation, internet, and
others have had a great impact on competitiveness and quality of
service. The Conference will give special attention to
innovations, opportunities and threats in the service industry
as a result of new technologies. Best practices in technology
management in manufacturing and service and the role of academic
institutions in preparing the needed human resources for the
technological environment of the 21st century will be presented.
Two half
day tutorials have been planned for Sunday May 13, 2007 at the
International Conference IAMOT 2007 on Miami Beach. These are:

A Special
Workshop on Accreditation/Certification of Graduate Programs
Educators
and program directors are invited to attend a special workshop
on IAMOT Accreditation/Certification of MOT graduate programs.
The workshop will be held at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa, the
official IAMOT 2007 conference hotel on Sunday May 13, 2007 from
11:30 to 1:30

Guidelines of Graduate Programs
IAMOT has
published the following new guidelines for graduate programs in
MOT.
Educators
and members of IAMOT are invited to attend the pre-conference
workshop to discuss educational issues and the proposed policies
and procedures for IAMOT accreditation/certification of graduate
programs.
Program Guidelines for
Management of Technology (MOT) Graduate Level Academic
Institution Certification
Disciplines that constitute the basis for a Master of Science
program in Management of Technology curriculum (and for the
extension of the M.S. program towards a Ph.D. degree if
applicable):
1. Management of Technology-Centered Knowledge:
Management procedures associated with the exploitation of
technological resources. Examples are fundamentals of management
of technology, theory of technology, technology acquisition,
exploitation and transfer, new product development, project
management, entrepreneurship, technology forecasting and
planning, innovation and R&D management, knowledge management,
intellectual property management and strategic management of
technology concentrating on integration of technology and
business strategy.
2. Knowledge of Corporate Functions: Classic business
functions such as marketing, finance, accounting, operations,
management information systems, human resource management, and
business strategy.
3. Technology-Centered Knowledge: Topics that relate
to specific technology fields or critical technology areas.
Examples are computer and information technology, pivotal and
emerging technologies, manufacturing technology, petroleum and
mining technology and production technologies.
4. Knowledge of Supporting Disciplines: Important
supporting topics such as national policy frameworks, economics,
general systems theory, risk analysis, environmental management,
ethics, human behavior, quantitative methods, legal issues,
research methods and statistics.
5.
Special topics:
Examples include capstone courses and projects, internships,
business study missions or the requirement of a thesis.
Take

is published in the conference CD proceedings.

Election
of IAMOT Board of Directors
IAMOT
revision of its bylaws has been approved in 2006. Based upon
this revision a new ballot to elect IAMOT Board of Directors for
2007-2009 time periods has been mailed by the IAMOT headquarters
to all active members. Please vote and return your ballot as
soon as possible.
IAMOT Awards– Nominations Are Accepted
Nominations for IAMOT awards are currently being accepted.
Please submit your nominations together with supporting material
to the IAMOT headquarters by email or by regular mail;
iamot@miami.edu.

The Gala Dinner and awards banquet is scheduled during the
Annual IAMOT International Conference. IAMOT presents several
